The Common Room / William Henry Wilson. 1879-?
« on: Tuesday 06 January 15 22:43 GMT (UK)  »
My appologies if I have asked this before but every so often I come back to this person and wonder why I cannot seem to track him down. My great grandfather had a brother, born in January 1879 and baptized  William Henry Wilson in Swindon,Wiltshire. He served an apprenticeship with the GWR as a wheelwright. In 1911 he is in Treharris, Merthyr Tydfil, a lodger, single aged 33 and a wheelwright.
His army record shows him to have been in the RGA as a trooper/wheeler.
After this I cannot seem to find what happened to him. Any help would be gratefully recieved.

World War Two / RAF Evaders.
« on: Tuesday 07 October 14 20:17 BST (UK)  »
I have a relative who was killed in a road accident just after the war and when I found the obituary in the film of the local paper I found out that his plane had crashed behind enemy lines and he had escaped back to England with the help of the French underground.
A few weeks back I posted a query on this thread; http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php?topic=507946.18
It was answered by PM from Halifaxman who supplied me with the details of the aircraft and of the flight and reason for crashing, also the crew list and facts of their escape/capture and incarceration.
A week or so later I was in a bookshop and spotted a book called; RAF Evaders, by Oliver Clutton-Brock. In it are some of the details of the escape of my relative, also details of the capture of the other crew members.
The book lists many more Evaders and I can always check the index for names if so required.

Australia / James Wilson.
« on: Sunday 28 September 14 23:22 BST (UK)  »
I have a James Frederick Wilson, born 1906 in Swindon Wiltshire England who seems to have emigrated to Australia, which would explain why I could never find him. From the National Archives he enlisted in the army at Adelaide SA. and his service number was SX4523. date of birth 19-Jan-1906 and next of kin; Wilson, Ivy. wife.
On the Wikitree there is a maiden name for Ivy but no source given.
I would be interested in finding out if there where any children.
Any help would be gratefully received.
                                                     Regards, John.
