I have a relative who was killed in a road accident just after the war and when I found the obituary in the film of the local paper I found out that his plane had crashed behind enemy lines and he had escaped back to England with the help of the French underground.
A few weeks back I posted a query on this thread;
http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php?topic=507946.18It was answered by PM from Halifaxman who supplied me with the details of the aircraft and of the flight and reason for crashing, also the crew list and facts of their escape/capture and incarceration.
A week or so later I was in a bookshop and spotted a book called; RAF Evaders, by Oliver Clutton-Brock. In it are some of the details of the escape of my relative, also details of the capture of the other crew members.
The book lists many more Evaders and I can always check the index for names if so required.
