Hi,

Could this be your man?  He's a couple of years older than you would expect from the other entries:

Ref: RG9/4339 Folio 96 Page 24

William PHILLIPS, Head, 45, Miner, Copper
Wineffrit WILLIAMS, Wife, 51
Margaret WILLIAMS, Dau, 20
Thomas PHILLIPS, Son, 16
Shara WILLIAMS, Dau, 12
John PHILLIPS, Son, 10
William PHILLIPS, Son, 7
Catherine WILLIAMS, Dau, 1

All born Llanberis

Even if this is not your ancestor, the entry is interesting in that the wife appears to have kept her maiden name (I've seen this before in Scottish census records) and whilst the sons have taken their Father's surname, the daughters have taken their Mother's!

Regards,

Al

1851 llanberis,

If this is your family, they are all naamed "Phillips" living at "tai y cum brwynog"
in 1851.

If you want the details of all the Phillips at the time, there's not a lot, please reply and I'll post for you.

I also - somewhere in this house of mine have 1841, if this is your John's family I can look him up for you.

Thanks jacko-to,
It's looking very much like them (but have no concrete evidence just going on hunches) my great gran Annie Phillips is on the census for Llanberis in 1891 aged 12 they were in an area called Stamps ( this was called stamps as it was where they stamped the copper ingots ).
Her father John Phillips is aged 37 on this also.
In 1881 i can find him staying Pen-Y-Bont aged 27,
in 1871 i can find a John Phillips aged 18 (as for it being 1 year out i'm ajusting for date of census) so any info is appreciated

I think the address says:

Llanberis Road, Glan Mym, Llanrug

Does that mean anything to you?

1851 Census has a Phillips Family living at Stamps 02 all born Llanberis

Thomas Phillips Head Mar. 39 Slate Quarryman
Jane Wife Mar. 33
Thomas (Son) 12 Slate Quarry Boy (isn't that cruel!)
Catherine (Dau). 09
John (Son) 07 Scholar
Robert (Son) 05
Sarah (Dau) 03
Margaret (Dau) 4 months

The trick now is to find who was living at Stamps in 1861 - I'll have a look for you, if I don't get back today I promise I will come back to you tomorrow.

Oh and if you get 2 posts of this message it's because I don't know what I did with the first - I think I lost it in cyberspace!!!
