ww1 gazza,who are they,mack
military history,mainly ww1,manchester pals battalions,tyneside irish +tyneside scottish brigades,leeds,liverpool,accrington,birmingham,hull,barnsley,swansea and salford pals.

Hi Mack, I've been told the one in the middle is possibly my Gt Grandfather.
He was born in 1863 which is why I am puzzled.
The uniform looks like ww1 to me but I would have thought he would have been too old for ww1. Having said that ,the age he looks in picture could well be. ???

gazza,it wasnt uncommon for soldiers of that age to serve,one from my hometown was 68,if he had served before the war then he would likely have been used in a training battalion,the way to distinguish a ww1 uniform is by the buttons,they always had five on the tunic,mack
