WeeMary - Many thanks for looking, it would be very possible that there were no headstones, I believe the family were shepherds, so I don't expect they had much money in those days, or possibly there is another church in the area-Regards Sukie

Hi Weemary,

Do you have any mention of Christopher Urquhart or Ann McKenzie (MacKenzie) in your MI books?

They were married on 23rd January 1806 on the Black Isle, and had children born between 1807 & 1827 so they must have died after 1827. Christopher was a coppersmith by trade.

I was noticing your profile and I see you are looking for relatives on the Black Isle, Aberdeen & South Shields - well that is the route my family took!

My 2 x great grandfather Hector Urquhart was born 1814 on the Black Isle, moved to Aberdeen where he married Margaret Campbell Graham, in 1842. They then moved to South Shields before 1855. One of their daughters Jane Urquhart married an Edward Middleton Robson in South Shields 15th April, 1882. We seem to share some places and names!

My theory about all the moving is connected to the 'Land Clearances' do you think that is why your family travelled?

Best Wishes,
Patsy

Hi Patsy

would you have an idea of where your family lived in the black isle. I'll have more time to look tomorrow as it is my day off.

Just noticed I also have Robson's in my family from Southshields/Sunderland area.  Twice in my family tree, still to prove if they are connected in anyway.

Reason I ended up being from Sothshields, is my father met my mother in Greenock, while in the navy, after their marriage, they went back to Southshields

Dear Weemary,

At the time of Hector Urquhart's birth the family lived at Bishop Kinkell, and he was christened on 13th September 1814 by the Rev. John McDonald in Urquhart & Logie Wester.

If you have any questions about your South Shields Robson family put a post on the Durham board - you never know we might have some of the same Robsons in our family trees - and I will check my names.

Thank you for taking the time to check your MI books, and don't forget to take some time on your day off to put your feet up.

Best Wishes,
Patsy

Dear Weemary,

Thank you for taking the time to look.

I will find them one day - probably when I am not looking!

Best Wishes,
Patsy
