George McDonagh-Finglas
« on: Sunday 06 November 05 17:43 GMT (UK) »
Hi

I am looking for any information on George McDonagh or his family.

He was born, probably in the 1890's, and lived in Finglas and was killed in action on 5 July 1916 in France while serving as Private 20811, 9th Battalion, Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers.

Thanks

IanC

Hi

Have you looked for his birth in the indexes? As he was born post 1864, it should have been registered. These are available at the Dublin GRO (in person or Roscommon by post) or on film at your local family history centre. (Church of the latter day saints) http://www.familysearch.org/Eng/Library/FHC/frameset_fhc.asp for your nearest.

I believe that this is the marriage of Alexander McDONOUGH to Julia MALONE LINK
It is on October 24th 1929!
He is shown as a widower and she as a spinster and both of full age

This may answer why the earlier children were baptised in the city centre

Alexander McDonoagh died aged 73 in 1930 LINK
noting that on the marriage in 1929 the witnesses were Patrick Matthews and Ellen Matthews
and on this death record P. Mathews - Ellen maybe a married daughter although I don't immediately see a record

Julia McDonagh died aged 64 in 1932 LINK
informant for Julia is her daughter Elsie Williams of Phibsboro

LINK to marriage of Esther McDONAGH to Peter WILLIAMs in 1929

looks like Julia Malone was born 1867 in Cappagh,Finglas to Peter Malone and Mary Farrelly
They appear to be living a few doors away from Julia in 1901
