1861/1871 North Riding Look up Please.

Would SKS  look up the following family please in 1861/1871. On the 1881 census they were living at Farm House, Sawdon.

John Watson head b abt. 1819 Farmer Kelk ,Yorkshire
Mary Watson wife  b. abt  Flamborough, Yorkshire
Albert Watson 24 b. Ruston Farmer's son
Alice A Watson 24 b. Ruston Farmer's daughter
John Watson 17 b.Ruston Farmer's son
Charles Watson 13 b Ruston Farmer's son

Any information on this family would be most apprectiated.

I gues you are still following this as I noticed some of your other postings made in the last couple of weeks.  So here goes.

I first looked in the 1871 census of Sawdon and found:

John Watson, Head, Married, 53, Farmer 450 acres employs 3 Lbrs & 6 boys, b. Yorkshire Kelk
Mary Watson, Wife, M, 48, Yorkshire Flamborough
William, Son, U, 25, Yorkshire Ruston
Elizabeth, dau, U, 19, Yorkshire Ruston
Alice A, dau, 14, Yorkshire Ruston
John A, son, 7, Yorkshire Ruston
Charles E, son, 3, Yorkshire Ruston


I then looked in 1861 and there was no reference to them in Sawdon or the next village (Brompton) - I eventually gave up.  I then moved on to looking for some info for another Rootschat member for the village of Wykeham and amazingly found your Watsons there!

I also found this family next door but one.  I would guess John, the servant above is this family's son and that William and your John are probably brothers.

  Many thanks for the information. The Watsons are my brother in law's family so I will pass the information on .I do know that John's parents were William Watson and Elizabeth Serwood  so it is very likely that they would name a son William.
  There are three children for Jinh Watson , Alfred, Henry and Mary who are new to us .Along with the new address in Wykeham .Giving us more to work on.
