Hi Sheila (again)
I gues you are still following this as I noticed some of your other postings made in the last couple of weeks. So here goes.
I first looked in the 1871 census of Sawdon and found:
1871
RG10/4819/31Sawdon Heights
John Watson, Head, Married, 53, Farmer 450 acres employs 3 Lbrs & 6 boys, b. Yorkshire Kelk
Mary Watson, Wife, M, 48, Yorkshire Flamborough
William, Son, U, 25, Yorkshire Ruston
Elizabeth, dau, U, 19, Yorkshire Ruston
Alice A, dau, 14, Yorkshire Ruston
John A, son, 7, Yorkshire Ruston
Charles E, son, 3, Yorkshire Ruston
I then looked in 1861 and there was no reference to them in Sawdon or the next village (Brompton) - I eventually gave up. I then moved on to looking for some info for another Rootschat member for the village of Wykeham and amazingly found your Watsons there!
1861
RG9/3621/97Farmhouse, Wykeham Village
John Watson, Head, Married, 43, Farmer Yorkshire Kelk
Mary Watson, Wife, M, 38, Yorkshire Flamborough
Sarah Ann, dau, U, 16, Yorkshire Wold Newton

Elizabeth, dau, 9, Yorkshire Ruston
Henry, son, 8, Yorkshire Ruston

Alice, dau, 4, Yorkshire Ruston
John A, son, 7, Yorkshire Ruston
Mary, dau, 1, Yorkshire Ruston
John Watson, servant, U, 20, Farm Labourer, Yorkshire Snainton
I also found this family next door but one. I would guess John, the servant above is this family's son and that William and your John are probably brothers.

Frances Watson, Wife, 49, Wykeham
Ann Watson, Dau, 12, House Servant, Yorkshire Ruston

I then moved on to 1851 and they are in the Village of Ruston (right next to Wykeham)

By the way Kelk is near Driffield in case you hadn't heard of it.
Hope this is of use. I'd be interested to know how you get on with your Watson family research
