Ho there
Just a note on Ann Hepworth born Sowerby...most likely to be Sowerby Bridge near Halifax rather than Sowerby North Yorks.

Carol :)

Isn't Sowerby more likely to be Sowerby than Sowerby Bridge?  They are 2 distinct (if adjacent) places, as the inhabitants of either would strongly protest

Regards

Hi Malcolm
Sorry if I've offended you ( or anyone else) but it just seemed to me that the Sowerby mentioned was more likely to be Sowerby Bridge near Halifax, which is just down the road from Brighouse/Rastrick , than the Sowerby in North Yorks. which is quite a way off.

Thought I was being helpful, as I originally come from the Brighouse area. Certainly didn't intend to upset anyone or confuse the issue.

Carol

Just another note on this.
Sowerby (West Yorks.) is not always listed in modern day map indices as a separate place from Sowerby Bridge and could therefore be easily confused with the Sowerby in North Yorks.

Nessie, I'm sure you would find Malcolm's website, Calderdale Companion, most interesting.

Cheers

Thanks guys, please don't argue, this is what happens on most chatrooms, somebodies posts can come across totally different when read out by yourself and totally taken the wrong way. Anyways I am aware that there are 2 areas of that name and they are at Sowerby Bridge. Sowerby is higher up I think near pie nest? Not sure. Still trying to trace Frank's father. He died when they were quite young I think, well he must have, does anyone have death certificate info or marrage certificate of Sarah Thornton??? :) cheers guy's
