Hi Irret
I am trying to establish a link between George Curtis (c.1823 Kensington) and his father William Curtis (c.1796 Kensington??). I have Frederick Curtis c.1808 Eaton as a possible (?) brother of William.
I am informed that Frederick was from Eaton, Bedfordshire. Not Wiltshire. But it is entirely possible that he may have hailed from there as my info is very patchy to say the least :-\

Not sure if this will help you - Tony

For what it is worth, the Eaton Socon National Defence list of 1803 survived...the only CURTIS listed is a George CURTIS, shoemaker & married with 4 children under the age of 10...maybe a grandfather?

Beds archives has began its own search engine [but put in just 'CURT' and see what it turns up as the name is spelt lots of ways] http://blars.adlibsoft.com/form.html

The only CURTIS listed in Eaton Socon in 1851 is a 14 year old William Henry born in Norfolk on page 43 [sorry, don't have full transcript just the index] but he may be nothing to do with the earlier ones?

See: http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~hughwallis/IGIBatchNumbers/CountyBedford.htm#PageTitle

The IGI has a SARAH CURTIS christened on the 7 AUG 1814 at Eaton Socon to Wm & Ann.
