« on: Friday 11 November 05 19:04 GMT (UK) »
Hi,
Just recieved a marriage certificate from 1875 at Norbury Church between James Swindells and Jane Wilkinson both 21yrs living in Stockport.  Trying now to find out more details of bride and family.  Her father is a samuel Wilkinson occupation grinder and one of the witnesses is Josiah Wilkinson (presume related).  No addresses, can anyone help re previous cencus's please.
many thanks regards karlowe

Thanks Cathy,
All the names are right and and I can only find one Josiah on Ches BMD and his birthdate matches this.  The marriage certificate doesn't state however that Samuel was deceased and according to these cencus he should be........ apart from this everything ties in...........is it possible that deceased was left off the marriage certificate?
Thank you once again karlowe

Hi,
i think it was common practice to put the fathers name on certificates even if they were deceased - whilst researching my family it happened a couple of times and i was puzzled at first but all the other dates etc fitted and i was able to get the relevant death certificates.

Good luck with your research,
                                    Cathy.
