Hello lorimer,

Have a look at Cauley on Griffiths Valuation extracts on John Hayes www.failteromhat.com website Scroll down for McCauley. There was one in Co. Galway in 1855 ...

Matthias Mc Cauley, Henry St., Rahoon. Galway

Have a look at Ballynahinch, Co. Down 1863-4 ... you'll find several McCauleys.

Just watch out for alternate spellings of the surname like McAuley, Macaulay, etc.
Away sorting out DNA matches... I may be gone for some time many years!

Lorimer,

Were the Trimble family from Ireland or Cumberland?

There are no Trimbles listed in the Galway Valuation but there are several in Co. Down.

Trimbles were from Cumberland cousins to the Grahams.

Hello Lorimer,

Have you any documents indicating that your McCauley ancestors came from Ballynahinch, Co. Galway? There are plenty of Grahams and McCauleys (plus variations) in Ballynahinch, Co. Down ... click here to see Ros Davies' Co. Down, Ireland Genealogy Research Site
