Here is another one for your collection. Repaired, cleaned, border and canvas effect.

Sharon-change your jpeg compression from high (low quality) to low (high quality) that should fix it, or just save as a tiff file.

Heres a coloured version, using your colouring instructions. I looked up the badge for the 121st Infantry, so I think this is correct.

One or two colours you didn't mention though, and they are by far the most important. Your dads hair colour and eye colour. I had a wild stab at brown for both. Hope this is roughly correct.
