1841 census look-up please - KIMBER
« on: Tuesday 15 November 05 19:39 GMT (UK) »
I'm trying to identify the mother of one one my ancestors.

James Weaving Kimber was born, I think, in 1833 in Fyfield, Berkshire.  He was the son of Thomas Kimber born 1800, Fyfield.  His mother seems to have died before the 1851 census.  I'm not sure who his mother was, although I have a couple of ideas, but hope that the 1841 census will confirm one of them.

I wonder if there is any kind soul out there who might have access to the 1841 census who might look them up for me (with appropriate copyright references of course!)

Thank you.  KN :D

Hi Harry

The following entry in the North Berkshire Marriage Index 1538-1851, which I must remember to say is copyright of the Oxfordshire Family History Society, might interest you :-

Thomas KIMBER married Mary Ann WEAVING at Fyfield on 7 September 1831

The parish registers of Fyfield have been transcribed and indexed by the members of the Oxfordshire FHS and might contain more information.

Best wishes.

Dear Harry and Paul

Thank you both for doing these checks for me.  I really appreciate your help.

I strongly suspect that James Weaving Kimber's mother was Mary Ann Weaving (his first cousin!) as the clues all fit.  Paul - would a parish register list the bride's maiden name?

You might be interested to know that JW Kimber went to Abingdon School and the Royal Agricultural College, studied the Berkshire pig, was Chairman of Abingdon Rural District Council and a member of Berkshire County Council.  Busy man.  (info courtesy of Mr N. Hammond who is researching Abingdon School old boys.)

thanks again for your help.

getting very confused!  JW Kimber's mother, I suspect was Mary Anne Kimber (nee Mary Anne Weaving).  He then married his first cousin Susan Emily Weaving.
