Thomas McFarlane and Ann Low are my ancestors.  Their son Alexander is my g.g.grandfather.  I would be interested to know your connection to this family and how we might be related.  Perhaps we can also compare notes on their descendants.

Additional info I have:
Thomas McFarlane baptised 1/7/1787, Methven, Perth

1841 census, Longforgan, Perthshire
Thomas McFarlan, 50, b. Perthshire, ag. lab.
Ann, 40, b. Scotland
Elizabeth, 14, b. Perthshire
John, 12, b. Perthshire
Margaret, 9, Perthshire
James, 6, b. Perthshire
[keep in mind that the 1841 census rounded down adults' ages to the nearest 5]

1851 census, Dunnichen, Angus
Thomas McFarlane, 60, b. Methven, Perthshire, ag. lab.
[living with 3 other "fellow servants"]

1851 census, Longforgan, Perthshire
Ann McFarlon, 52, b. Liff, Forfarshire
Alexr., 1, grandson, b. Dron, Perthshire

1851, Dundee, Angus
Margaret McFarland, 19, b. Longforgan, Perthshire, house servant (w/John & Agnes Forbes)

1851, Rattray, Perthshire
John McFarlane, 22 b. Longforgan, Perthshire, ag. labourer
Janet, 20, , wife, b. Alvie, Inverness
child, 4 days, daughter, b. Rattray
Margaret McPherson, 59, mother-in-law, b. Alvie, Inverness

1851, Kinnoull, Perthshire
Thomas McFarlane, 27, b. Forgan, Perth., ploughman
Janet, 33, wife, b. Newburgh, Fife
William, 8, son, b. Errol, Perth
Thomas, 6, son, b. Errol, Perth
John, 4, son, b. Inchture, Perth
James, 1, son, b. Kinnoull, Perth

I have some additional info from later censuses if you're interested.  Let me know.

Hi Steve, William McFarlane b 1825 Longforgan Perthshire a younger brother of Alexander is my gr gr gr grandfather. He married Isabella Stirton and had four children.

In 1861 the family are shown as living in Dundee, Angus. I'm afraid I don't have many details on William's siblings other than what I have picked up from IGI.
It would be great to compare notes. If possible it would be easier to send you a word document of my details.
