Hi Lyn,

In 1891, when he's only 3 months, he's down as being born in Hackney. Have you already tried searching in Hackney?

Hi Tati and Tanya.
The G A stands for George Allen. Parents were Henry George collins and Jessie Allen. I have looked for a Hackney birth but found nothing. I think it's the 1901 that shows his birth as Epping. So far I've ordered 4 certificates for a Francis ( Frank ) Collins, but all wrong.  :( Lyn

Have you just tried Free BMD, or have you been through 1837online for 1890 and first qtr of 1891 (birth was before census, so early in the year if 1891).
There is someone on the Beginners board with some spare credits for 1837online, so they may be able to do a few quarters for you and come up with all possible births for Franks/Francis's etc.
Edmonds/Edmunds - mainly Sussex
DeBoo - London
Green - Suffolk
Parker - Sussex
Kemp - Essex
Farrington - Essex
Boniface - West Sussex

Hi Liz.  Yes I have gone through the FreeBMD and 1837. Looks like the only way I'll find the right one is by ordering the certificates. Bit expensive though at 7 quid a time, if it's the wrong one. Got 4 wrong ones so far  :-X Lyn

Hi there

To save a bit of money- ask the GRO only to send the cert if mum and dad are correct. They will refund £3 of your £7 if it's the wrong birth. You can specify reference checking points at the bottom of the form.

Have you considered the option that he changed his (many ;D) christian names round to suit.

Good luck

Carol
