Llethrddu Cemetery, Trealaw
« on: Thursday 17 November 05 13:09 GMT (UK) »
Dear Vicky,
I understand that you are willing to quote monumental inscriptions and send photographs of plots in Llethrddu Cemetery, Trealaw.  Please could I kindly ask you for information and photos relating to Caroline Thomas (died in 1918).
I would be so very grateful.  Please let me know if it incurs any cost.
Susan

In Loving Memory

of

Edward George Wells
the beloved husband of
Mary Ann Wells
Trealaw Hotel Trealaw
who died March 8th 1917
aged 55 years

Gone dear husband much we miss
thee
No dear form like thine is near
No kind word to soothe or comfort
None like thee our? hearts to cheer.

Also in Loving Memory of
Caroline
wife of Glanffrwd Thomas
and beloved daughter of the above
Edward George and Mary
Ann Wells
,
who fell asleep in Jesus
March 10th? 1918
aged 23 years

Her name is dear to memory
Tis graven on our hearts
Her kindly smile is with us now
lingering, loath to part.

Also the above named
Mary Ann Wells
who died March 24th 1944
Aged 78 years

Rest in peace.

Trealaw Cemetery, plot R76.

My husband transcribed the words from photographs he took of the plot.
He didn't take pencil & paper with him ::)
Some of the dates may not be correct - they were difficult to read.

He said it was quite an easy plot to find. It is in the front row of the 3rd or 4th column of the 'R' section.
The front row seems to be for prominent people in the community such as Colliery Managers, Businessmen & Publicans.

Dear Vicky,
Thank you so, so much for going to such trouble on my behalf. I really appreciate it. So...my ancestors did own the Trealaw Hotel after all at some stage! How confusing! It must have been acquired after the 1901 census which makes no mention of that fact. Roll on 2011 when we shall have access to the next one!!
