Hello Dave...thank you for replying to my request......our Butlers seem to have been in the Calstone & Blackland area for over 100 years was wondering if anyone out there is related to me.......the earliest I have tracked down is.... Daniel Butler married Alice ? c1738...their children are Alice 1738... Daniel 1740(my ancestor)... Dorcas 1742 & Alice 1743... from Blackland........we then have Daniel Butler 1740 married to Sarah Green in 1762.....their children are Daniel 1766..William 1770...Ann 1771......Joseph 1773(my ancestor)....Mary 1775.....George 1777.....Isaac 1779 all from Calstone...thank you Janet..

Hi Janet,
I don't think I can add to that!
I did find your Daniel Butler/Sarah Green marriage 13 Dec 1762, witnesses William Wiggall, Anthony Hale.
My daughter lives in Calne (Blackland and Calstone)  :)
Merry Xmas, cheers Dave

Hello Dave...well we are having true Christmas weather about 37degrees.....should be a little cooler Christmas Day....we have ditched traditional fare...just cold meats, salads...trifles etc but we will be having hot pudding with ice cream or custard......you certainly learn to have patience with this family tree business, don't you?.......regards Janet

Janet we are having much the same temperatures here , oops, fahrenheit  ;D
I like the idea of hot pudding and ice cream.   Do you go for the traditional goose or turkey or rather a selection of cold cuts?
We shall be spending Xmas day at our daughter's house in Calne (Blackland and Calstone) traditional turkey, roast potatoes, veggies (including Brussel sprouts  ::)), etc etc.   A moonraker Xmas
Regards Dave

Hello Dave...cold meats this year are roast pork(cold),smoked ham, cold chicken & cold leg lamb....salads...mixed vegs, potato salad & pasta salad...lots of added stuff like beetroot, asparagus, cheeses, dips & lots sauces etc plus the desserts...I will start getting this prepared on 24th.....we used to have traditional fare hot meats & vegies & homemade pudding & cake..... the weather can be very warm at Christmas & for the poor old cook(wife)(me) it can be a bit of an ordeal to get it ready...must have the cooking sherry handy for emercencies....we do not have an great number for lunch...this year about 12 of us will sit down to-gether or stand or whatever.......we are very relaxed about it all...then we have to eat the left-overs for the next week...I always overdo the food bit...I think it is a left over from the war years...I know my husband who was brought up in  Lancashire during this time loves to splash out at Christmas....regards Janet
