The Carsons in Ballyutoag were Methodist according to 1901 + 1911 census.

Here's George A. Carson in 1911 Census (age 50 so born before civil registration of births)- listed as R.C. but perhaps a mixed marriage.

However, in 1901 he's 45 years old, b.Co.Antrim and 'Weslyn' (should be Wesleyan- i.e. Methodist):

No I believe that the census is incorrect in regard to the R/C aspect although his wife was R/C. As for him being a Methodist I am uncertain. On one of his children's birth cert it states that his occupation is Rn Convoy Gunner, if that is of any help

Hi,
Marriage took place in Lylehill Presbyterian Church, Parish of Templepatrick, Antrim on 30 Dec 1853. A parent search on the IGI, part of www.familysearch.org gives several children from 1864 but not George A.

Regards

Looking that up now. Thank you :-)

If that's him I found in 1901 then it looks like he was Methodist (as were Carsons in Ballyutoag).
Death registration for George Alexander Carson (July/Sept.1920) gives age as 59 (born c1861).
Away sorting out DNA matches... I may be gone for some time many years!

Sounds like it alright, I had an Uncle named George Alexander Carson. And one of GGF George's Children was named Mary Ellen, as was the name of Gibson's wife. Some of GGF George's Children happened to be buried near the luistania Graves in Cobh (Queenstown) and the records for that area of the graveyard were well documented. The local historian researched the childrens graves and came up with Gibson and Mary Ellen as the parents of George.
