Carsons of Antrim
« on: Thursday 24 November 05 13:01 GMT (UK) »
Looking for relatives of our g.grandmother Mary Ann Carson b. 1850 in Antrim - town not known.
Her father was John Carson and she migrated to Australia on the ship "Hydrabad" in 1877. Her religion is stated as Weslyan.
Any information would be very welcome
Many thanks
Cate

yes as far as know Gibson died in April of 1916. As I stated I before I believe that he is the father of George A Carson (my GGF) George Married Elizabeth Conroy of Queenstown in 1885.

PRONI has details under Will Extracts- see www.proni.gov.uk for full details:
"Probate of the Will of Gibson Carson late of Ballyntoag County Antrim Farmer who died 21 April 1916 granted at Belfast to John Caruth Dairyman and John William McCartnev Sanitary Inspector"

The townland is actually Ballyutoag not Ballyntoag.

Gibson Carson in 1911 census-

Gibson Carson in 1901 census-

Hi,
Marriage took place in Lylehill Presbyterian Church, Parish of Templepatrick, Antrim on 30 Dec 1853. A parent search on the IGI, part of www.familysearch.org gives several children from 1864 but not George A.

The Carsons in Ballyutoag were Methodist according to 1901 + 1911 census.

Here's George A. Carson in 1911 Census (age 50 so born before civil registration of births)- listed as R.C. but perhaps a mixed marriage.

However, in 1901 he's 45 years old, b.Co.Antrim and 'Weslyn' (should be Wesleyan- i.e. Methodist):
