Catholic baptisms - early 1800s, Leeds COMPLETED
« on: Sunday 27 November 05 19:54 GMT (UK) »
I’ve searched, without success, for the baptism of Elfreda Castelow who was born in Leeds around 1811. She married in Leeds Parish Church but wasn’t baptised there. If she was a Catholic, as someone’s suggested, could she have been baptised in a Catholic church at that time? If so, where would the records be kept, please? I’m completely stuck with this one so any advice would be welcome.

Hi mjn

Do you know for certain she was born in Leeds?

I notice on the IGI she married Thomas Pickering - is that correct?

Best wishes

Hi Ticker

Thanks for your reply and interest. Yes, Elfreda married Thomas Pickering and, according to the 1851 census, she was born in Leeds, although on the 1861 it says Wakefield! She died in Stockton on Tees but that's about all I know of her.  Any help with this would be much appreciated.
