Are you expecting him to be married?  There are 2 possibles but one was born 1841 and the one born 1846 has birthplace recorded as Northamptonshire Wandsworth(which could just be a mistake) and this one is footman at the Admiralty in London. The other is a Boarder and lab at a Forge in Farnley Yorks

Either fit?

If married do you have Caroline's details.

Caroline Baxter nee Woodrow abt 1848  Pitminster, Wiltshire,

They did not marry until 1878.

William was born in Wansford, Northants.

All I can say,then, is that that doesn't sound like an ex labourer at a forge.  Could be wrong
