Crabb Family-Brentwood & Doddinghurst

Hi,

I'm posting the details of my great-grandmothers siblings in the hope that someone,at some time,will be able to make a connection to one of them because as it stands all I know about them is what I could learn from the 1901 census.

I have the details of the parents etc from the census returns back to 1871.

My great-grandmothers name was Charlotte Sophia Maria Crabb born in Doddinghurst in 1880

Her sibling were;
David Crabb born in Doddinghurst circa 1883
Mary Crabb born in Doddinghurst circa 1886
Sidney Crabb born Brentwood circa 1893
Stanley Crabb born Brentwood circa 1895

At the time of the 1901 census the family were living in Alfred Road,Brentwood.

If anyone can make a connection to any of the above I would very much like to hear from you

                I guess you have this lot, but worth a  post?
Charlotte in 1891, is daughter of David and Sarah , aged 34 and 28.
                In 1871, David is  aged 14 and son of John Crabb, living in Doddinghurst. He shows up in the 1861 census as born 1856, which sounds good. son of John and sibling Ellen.
               There is a John in the 1841 census, aged 20, and born in Doddinghurst. This could be the correct John, as he is shown as being born in  1821, but then 1841 census years are rounded down.
                Anyway, what is your question?

I didn't have a question realy more a request that if anyone is related to any of the family members that I would like to hear from them

That said,I'm very gratefull to you for finding the details about John on the 1841,a couple of checks will,I'm sure,show him to be the right one I was aware of him and I do have the details that you kindly posted but not from the 1841.

I've just re read your posting and I've realised that you also found David in the 1861 census,son of John and with a sibling Ellen,this is great news  If it wouldn't be too much trouble could you have another look for me and confirm any address or ages?

Hi Mickey, about to watch West Wing (brilliant program), and will do this after. Incidentally, have you checked out my site and online tree, I have Crabb people marrying into the Littlechild line.
I also went out with a yummy Crabb young lady some (many)years ago, I will pass on the rest of this conversation. I have lots of records for Doddinghurst, if you need anything, particularly the earlier period, eg Johns brother Francis was born in 1818, this is in my search engine etc.

Your website is excellent,it takes some dedication to do all that work and credit where credit is due, you've done a great job

The Essex marriages were real interesting with Crabb/e family marriages going back to 1676!!

Suddenly I've got loads to do and I'm itching to get started.

When I did a search for Crabb I was amazed at the results that came back,in particular a reference to the Crabb christenings in Doddinghurst, do you think that the Jonathon could be my John?if so this is fantastic news,far more than I could have hoped for,cheers Kevan,you realy are a diamond,

   In 1861, 1067/9 is John Crabb aged 40, a widow with children Ellen aged 9 and John aged 7 - the address is near Convers, and John is actually listed as a boarder at the Adams household. Next in the census is a Hammond family.
  John is the son of Thomas Crabb and Ann Hammond. There is a Jonathan, but I have him listed as born in 1811, another brother Francis marries Sarah Ann Littlechild, she is the sister of John Littlechild who is my g.g.g.father

How strange to think that one of my distant relatives married one of yours,small world eh?

My ggrandmother Charlotte married and then emmigrated to NZ and from what I can gather contact was lost between the families,so it was only when I started to research her life a couple of years ago and got her birth cert that I discovered the connection to Doddinghurst.

I have been in contact with one of her descendants in NZ and they also knew little about her but interestingly they told me that her claim to fame was that she was closely related to Commander Lionel 'Buster' Crabb who dissapeared in mysterious circumstances in the1950s,so I have spent a disproportionate amount of time trying to prove the connection but as yet I've had no luck,but now with all this new information I reckon that its a distinct possibility

My grandfather was Charlotte's first born and she named him William Francis,now I'm starting to understand why!

I'm confident that I will be able to make a connection to Buster Crabb,I have a picture of him and he looks so much like my grandad its spooky
