Portuguese to England, Pereira Dias family
« on: Thursday 08 December 05 17:17 GMT (UK) »
Hello

I'm new to the chat, but have been checking out all of the different topics.
Anyone have any idea how I can go about trying to find out information about
my great grandfather, who arrived in the UK sometime between 1900 and 1921? My surname interest is Pereira Dias. We have very little information on him other than a name Jose Pereira Dias. He went to the UK with a son in tow, and maybe others but not sure. His son Bernardino Pereira Dias, is my grandfather. Our information on them is limited, as we just found our grandfather's grave about 2 years ago. Looooonnnngggg story. Anyway, all we have at the moment is that they came from portugal, where in portugal is anyones' guess at the moment. We were also told that they had worked in the mines near the Forest of Dean area. Are there any such records that hold who the miners were, their names and where they came from?
Any help?
Thank you
