Thanks for taking the time to look up my request, Angie.
I am not too good with Welsh places either so will have to go check with Genuki to see where Maesteg is.
I really appreciate how generous everyone is here.
Thanks again

Hi Angie
Really this was a fishing expedition.  I have  John Phillips married to an Elizabeth.  On the free BMD the only marriage I found for John Philips to an Elizabeth about the right time and area was for an Elizabeth Rees.  On the IGI I found this Rees family with a daughter Elizabeth - right age and same area.
I have what I think is the 1841 census for John and Elizabeth Phillips so I was curious to see what Samuel Rees' family looked like in 1841.  The fact that Elizabeth Rees is not living with her parents is a good sign.
So not too sure what I should do next.  I was thinking of ordering the marriage certificate but since I don' t know John's fathers name I don't know if that will help.  Any suggestions?

Hi Angie
There is a John Phillips on the IGI  but I don't know if it's the right one since there's  seems to have been a few  John Phillips born around the right time and area. I am going to have to order some Parish Records - just not sure what church they would have attended.  There seems to be a number of choices when it comes to doing Welsh genealogy. It all seems way more complicated than doing genealogy in England.
