1862 passenger list for Nova Scotian
« on: Saturday 10 December 05 22:58 GMT (UK) »
Hello
I am looking for the complete list of passengers on the Nova Scotian ship that left Liverpool on April 24 1862 and arrived in Quebec on May 10 1862.  There were 352 passengers of which John Townsend and family were part of.  Would like to see complete list (Olive tree has part of the list).  Does anyone know where the complete listing is on the net?

Hi,

Unfortunately, Canada did not start archiving passenger lists until 1865.

There is some information, however, on the "This Ships List" site that may interest you. (Check under "Events of 1862")

http://www.theshipslist.com/

Name: Townsend, John (& wife and family)
Date: May. 12, 1862
From (vessel): England (Nova Scotian)
via Seaport (vessel):  Quebec
Destination: (free grant on) Frontenac Road
Adults: Children: 5 males, 4 females
Comments: good health; gave them a letter for Mr. Spike and to a friend in Olden, to show them land for sale; captital $1000

Hope this helps.

Hi Janice
Thank you for the info.  John Townsend came over with his wife, two sons and two daughters.  So that would make 3 males and 3 females.  I was hoping to see who the other  people were.  Oh Well, will continue the search.  Thanks again for the help..
