Hi, just starting on Roots chat and noticed an elusive relative of mine - Alfred George Cross and have the same info that was shown.  I've had difficulty proving his whereabouts since then as he changes his name to George Alfred at times and I think also just George.  He was the father of my grandmother Charlotte Leviller (right name - don't know the significance).  He seems to have 'separated' from his wife Mary Ann (nee Durnford)B.1.12.70.  May possibly have married an Alice (?) Pardoe sometime at the turn of the 20th century.  This last is just guess work as the Pardoe family had a connection with my Father's family of Anthony of Fox Street, Canning Town (then Essex) now London, E.16.  Alfred's daughter Charlotte Leviller Cross married William Anthony, my father's dad.

Ant help, suggestions etc. greatly appreciated.

Hi, thank you for your quick response.  I think you are right with the balance of the Cross family - being his father and sister.  I think that it's the sister Charlotte who married Thomas Parsons.

I wondered why she was born in Southampton, but thinking of it, her father being a seaman, maybe they were based there at that time.

Alfred George is very elusive isn't he?  I cannot find proof of Mary Anne's death - possibly a bigamist marriage or a 'common law' one of George and Alice (if he's the right one). My search agrees with you that
he is and could account maybe for his changing his name around and not being easy to find.
