The only John Quinlan of about the right age in Lancashire is living and was born Clitheroe so presumably not yours, just to let you know his parents were Patrick and Catherine and siblings Ami, Michael, Mary, Margaret and Ellen, John, Joseph and brother Michael.  Parents and Michael born Ireland, children born either Manchester or Clitheroe.  HO107/2256 Clitheroe Folio 244 Page 67.

If you have his baptism do you know his parents names or even just his father?
