Hi Siobhan,

I have trawled the 1841 census for Sandridge but your family did not appear.  I did however find a couple of entries that may be of interest viz ...

HO107/439/1   F.8  P.10.  Sandridge
James Parsons  50  Carrier
Elizabeth Parsons  47
Elizabeth Parsons  20
Susan Parsons  15

HO107/439/1  F.22.  P.11.  Sandridge
Jonathon Parsons  70  Baker
Sarah Parsons  65
Susan Parsons  40
William Parsons  15 Baker
John Pocock  15  Baker

All the above were born in county.

Elizabeth Parsons age 20 was recorded as a visitor at the inn at Sandridge on census night.

Without a surname index further enquiries are a little difficult.

thank you for this information.. I am pretty sure they are part of the 'family'.. In Sandridge about this time, you couldn't throw a stick without hitting a Parsons!

Hi Siobhan,

Having seen your other posting, I have now found your family at Shafford Mill,  a water mill  situated on the River Ver just out of St.Albans on the road to Redbourn.   Here goes ...

HO107/438/11.  F4/5 P2/3.  Shafford Mill.
Jonathon Parsons  45 Miller
Catherine Parsons  50
Harriet Winch  35
Jonathon Parsons  20 Baker
Sarah  Parsons 20
Jesse Parsons  15   Miller
Henry Parsons  15  Millwright App.
George  Parsons  10
Mary Ann  9
Plus 1 female servant and 4 ag labs, all age 15.
also William and Elizabeth Nettleton aged 50

One or two of the children are missing.

Regards   ...   Peter
