Suz,

Thank you thank you!! Yes, that is our Dr. Blagge!

My father wouldn't tell us anything about his middle name; at his funeral we met a cousin who told us the story, and that my dad was ashamed of being from a 'bastard line'.

There is a monument at Car Colston with names of several Blagges ie:
BENEATH
are interred the Remains of
FRANCIS BLAGG
SURGEON
Who died Decr. 25th 1814 in the
43rd year of his age.
Are these Blagges relatives, do you know? Are you a Blagg?
Thanks!
Grace

No I am not related.

Possibly if francis died in S  Leverton this is his death reg
Francis Blagg
Mar qtr 1860
E retford
7b 7

this is only a guess -as reg's at that time do not give age -but E Retford is the correct reg district

I suppose he is related in some way to the Blaggs on the memorial

I'll see what else I can find -at least we have an approx birthdate and p.o.b. for him

Suz,

I am speechless-how long we have looked, and now we have answers, thanks to you. We have a picture of a church in East Retford with a note from our aunt stating that is where her father (Thomas Blagg Rogers) worshipped and played the organ.

How I wish my dad was alive to see this, he would have been 93. But, his brother is still living at almost 96! His mind is sharp and clear, and I hope he finds this as interesting as we do.

Hello Mabel,

I am researching my father's family-his grandfather was Thomas Blagge 1848 born in South Leverton, Lincolnshire England, attended chruch in East Retford, emigrated to American and was a veterinarian. His father was Francis Blagge, death abt 1840  in a hunting accident. It is thought that Thomas Blagge had 2 brothers and a sister Elizabeth.

Grace Rogers Colasurdo New Jersey USA

Thomas'sister would be Elizabeth matilda Rogers (E Matilda on 1851 census)
