Marriage Look-up Plse, Bulmer, Essex

Hi all

Would someone kindly look up a marrriage for me between James Samford and Sarah Dixey 13.9.1792 Bulmer.
Although I know who Sarahs Parents are. I am trying to find out James parents or father at least!
Does anyone have access to the records?

Although I do not have the answer to your Samford/ Dixey marriage I thought you may like to see this site, if your ancestors married in the local church there are a couple of pictures of it. Also a small ammount of history.

James SAMFORD otp and Sarah DIXEY otp married by banns 30Sep 1792.
Both made mark in register.
Witnesses were Benjn SAMFORD who made mark and John SHORTEN who signed. The latter was a regular witness of marriages- maybe he was parish clerk.
Because this is a parish with relatively small records I had a quick look at baptisms between 1752-1775. Although I noticed baptisms to John and Hannah DIXEY and to John and Elizabeth DIXEY at various times I saw no SAMFORDs. The baptisms for 1774 were impossible to read with certainty

I went a bit further and looked at Boyds marriage register for 1750-1775. The only SAMFORD marriages I saw were:
Jn and Sara WOOD Westham (=West Ham) 1758
Wm and Mary PRIOR Stanstead Mountfitchet 1759
Ben and An BARKER Twinstead 1769
Mary and Jn SANDER Elsenham 1757
Mille and Philemon TURNER Stanstead Mountfitchet 1760

There was also a Jane SAMSFORD m Jn PRIOR Stanstead Mountfitchet 1768. As you probably know, the Boyds register does not include all marriages.

Will have to work on the witness Benjamin Samford and hope that may be a brother.
The name has varied from Samford, Sanford and Sandford, finally settling for Sandford.

Hi given the time difference between Ben's marriage in 1769 and James marriage in 1792 I hoped that would be a one generation gap at least and with a bit of luck James' dad. Twinstead is in IGI but not the baptism years you need..if you search IGI for Ben Samford anywhere in Essex you get what might well be James' son baptised in Belchamp Walter
