I have just started researching the Snelson family
from Cheshire.
I am trying to find the parents of Fred Snelson who was born c.1887 in Holmes Chapel.
The 1891 Census shows Fred as the son of Thomas and Esther Snelson
living at Church Hulme, Cheshire, but on the 1901 Census he is shown as their grandson still living at Church Hulme.
If Esther was his mother she would have been over 50 when he was born -is that likely ?
I know I must trace Fred's birth and send off for his birth certificate, but that won't arrive until the New Year, aand I would like to crack on -
Would appreciate someone elses view - or suggestions
Many thanks

Do Thomas & Esther have any other children?  If there's one old enough to be Fred's parent then I would go with 'grandson'.

Had a similar thing with one of my branches - daughter in one census, granddaughter 10 years later.  Unfortunately the child had at least three older sisters, any one of whom could have been her mother.  So I still don't know which one to give her to.
