Lenzie...which County in circa 1900?

Hi Folks,
             Can any budding historian tell me the history of Woodilee Cottages in Lenzie?  I believe it used to be in Stirlingshire before East Dunbartonshire....any help for a friend would be appreciated.

 had a quick look and it seems that 1669 lenzie was in aberdeenshire, hope that helps,   kali,     have a nice christmas.

if you would like to google (woodilee cottage lenzie) you come up with a lot of sights, including war memorials of lenzie and folk living in woodilee cottages who lost family in the wars etc., give it a go,  kali.

Lenzie can be seen on the 1890s parish map to be split across the county boundary of Stirlingshire (Kirkintilloch parish) and Dunbartonshire (Cadder parish).

These parishes are the blue and the orange ones midway up the west side of the map.

If Lenzie was ever in Aberdeenshire, I can only imagine that to have been another Lenzie.

I believe it will have been considered part of Kirkintilloch parish, so I would guess Dunbartonshire.

Kali, I am intrigued about the Aberdeenshire connection.  I grew up in Kirkintilloch ("attached" to Lenzie), which is about 10 miles from the centre of Glasgow.  Is there another Lenzie in Scotland?  I know it is a real possibility given the number of Tarbets and Ballochs that we have

            i have never been to scotland in my life but i searched to see if lenzie was in a diferent county in years gone by, and yes it is dunbartonshire and kirkintilloch, but when i found the site mentioned below i found that for some time from 1669 that it was in aberdeenshire,
possibly there is another lenzie i really do not know but the info is there in black and white as they say, from the scottish roots ancestral research services, take a look at there site,

Hi there,

I was getting very confused there Kali    But you learn pretty quickly that there are multiple towns with the same name in Scotland - causing all sorts of issues!!

As for the cottages, I just called my mum who has lived in Kirkintilloch for over 40 years.  Woodilee cottages were built as housing for the 'key workers' in Woodilee Hospital/Asylum.  Her closest friend from school grew up there as her father was a secretary for the hospital.  So the history of the cottages goes hand in hand with the hospital.  Obviously with the closure of the hospital, the cottages are now privately owned (as far as I am aware anyway).  Searching for Woodilee hospital or asylum should help in this.  They are located almost exactly on the 'border' between Kirkintilloch and Lenzie.  I would guess that whatever county Kirkintilloch is in, the cottages will be also.

i googled for woodilee cottage lenzie and came up with a load of info in fact one of the cottages is up for sale at this moment (if your interested),
 but found a site with war memorials etc. for lenzie.   kali.
