Although it has been awhile since you posted, I just joined RootsChat.com and will take a stab at this. A one place study is simply the study of a place (that can be a village, a town, a block, a neighborhood, a cemetery, etc.). You study the place in a variety of ways - those born, married and died in your place, education, occupations, military service, property, businesses, etc. Many times you are studying a place where your ancestors are from or a place you have settled. Local history can be gleaned from libraries, schools, churches, civic organizations, etc. One excellent one-place study is for Wing (in the UK). You could check that website. Another way to check out one place studies is with the One Place Register. You should be able to find both online. These studies are done all over the world.
