1841 Look up request - Ickleford -FURR
« on: Tuesday 03 January 06 21:30 GMT (UK) »
I'd be very grateful for an 1841 look up in Ickleford for the following family, who evaded the border patrols and escaped from Beds c1828:

Ruth FURR/FARR/FIRR b 1803 Herts and children
Samuel b 1822 Beds, William 1824 Beds,  Henry 1828 Herts

As always, the husband died just before the census.

Thanks in advance

David

Hi David,

Here we go with the 1841 and another variation on the surname.

HO107/445/7    F.9.  P.11.  Ickleford.
Ruth Furze   35  Plaiter   In cty
Samuel Furze  18  Ag Lab   Not in cty
Henry Furze  12  In cty
Mary Primett  35  Plaiter   In cty
( The full Primett family is the next entry)

The Hertfordshire Burials Record shows William Furr  age 42  29 Oct 1839  Ickleford St.Katherine.

The name disguise does not fool us in Hertfordshire.

Regards   ...   Peter

That's brilliant Peter! Just what I was hoping for - Samuel still at home. He wasn't baptised so far as I can see, and whilst I suspected he was William and Ruth's son this is the only firm evidence.

By 1851 risk of capture and repatriation to Beds had obviously passed as they had all reverted to the more traditional Furr!

Many thanks

David
