Have you looked at the 1901 and 1911 Canadian census? there is a Jacob Weidrick in the same subdistrict, Townsend.
http://automatedgenealogy.com/census/index.html
Ontario, Norfolk North, Townsend e-4, page 5, line 10 and if you click on 'links' on the right it will take you to him in the 1911 census. Wife's name Sarah  :)

from the lds website
Emerson Martin Wiedrick born 06 Sep, 1880, Nober, Norfolk, Ontario
Father: Jacob Wiedrick
Mother: Rachel Walker

Emerson M Wiedrick b 1880 is part of the Wiedrick family in 1881 and even though the wives names differ Emerson M Weidrick matches with the Weidrick family in the 1901 census

Here are 3 links for the various spellings of Weidrick that I could find

Weiderick

Weidrick
http://automatedgenealogy.com/census/SurnameList.jsp?surname=Weidrick

Wiedrick
http://automatedgenealogy.com/census/SurnameList.jsp?surname=Wiedrick

There are a couple of men here that are old enough to be Jacobs father.  Someone else may know a way to determine his father

Thx for the welcome, J.J. I dabbled in genealogy a bit a few years ago and found it really easy to find my Coopers in Thanet, England, took a break when things got tough and just recently started again a few months ago. I am still a partial newbie, and still learning, just don't like to quit until I've tried every possible avenue I'm aware of  ;D
Things are also a little easier now, with the freeBMD, online census's and the generous 'lookup' assistance.  Just wish I could find some of my Canadian family as easy as I found this, can only go back to 1911 on one and that's it, a big brick wall.
:'(

Sorry to hijack your thread for a moment...xSJx

Denise, there are many aspects to this forum,  and brick walls are broken down
every day. so stick it out and try many threads.  Have you put your Canadian
enquiries on this thread? These people are very good, and maybe can help. If
the info is out there, and you get the right people on your case, it can really be
a great help.  Here's a hint...if your message just sits there, it goes to the back
burner....so make sure you put in the full names and dates of the person you
are looking for, and also answer each message right away...
That way, it goes to the top of the thread for more to see...and people don't
wonder why they aren't thanked for their help...( sometimes the notification
doesn't work, so check back, anyway, sometimes)
All the best and good luck, J.J

O.K. then, this is likely your father, but only head of family named in 1871
WIEDRICK MARTIN  51  and all else matches location in the '81!!!
