sorry kev,i missed it,alfred did serve overseas,he probably died of sickness/wound from service on gallipoli,they sailed for egypt on the 8th april 1915 arriving in alexander on the 24th on the SS saturnia,on aug 14th they sailed for mudros aboard the ascania,landing there on 17th,they transferred to the doris and landed at A.beach suvla bay that night,moved to reserve positions at lala baba on the 20th,took part in the attack on hill 112 on 21st,43 casualties,how did he end up buried in my town,was his family living here before the war,mack
military history,mainly ww1,manchester pals battalions,tyneside irish +tyneside scottish brigades,leeds,liverpool,accrington,birmingham,hull,barnsley,swansea and salford pals.

Hi Mack,
The parents of William Henry UNDY were Mary and Richard.
Richard died when William was very young, and Mary had two husbands after him - John Gubbins and William Brelsford Smith.
I don't know if Mary was still alive when William died.
