Help in NSW please
« on: Friday 06 January 06 07:56 GMT (UK) »
Hi everyone.  Any tips on how to find information in NSW which isn't included on the NSW BDM index's or the colonial secretarys papers.  The families I am interested in are Frederick Swansborough, his wife Hanoroh or Laura Mulqueeney and their children; also her parents Dennis and Bridget Mulqueeney whom I believe where Irish immigrants.  I have no idea how the Swansborough family came to be in NSW or where they originated from.
Any help would be appreciated.
Many thanks
Anne in OZ.

Hello Ann,
What dates are we talking about?
There are some other options but I would have expected to see the families in the BDMs - unless they weren't in NSW for long enough?

Hi Prue, thanks for you help. The 7 year old Dennis Mulqueeney interests me as our Dennis married Bridget Lynch in 1871, if they are the same that would have made him 21. I have 9 children for Dennis and Bridget one of them being my husbands g/grandmother.  Ummm, the Swansborough's...here is what I know Frederick Swansborough married Hanorah or Laura Mulqueeney in Glebe, NSW 1905, i have 5 children for them.  I have no idea how the Swansborough family came to NSW or where they originate from.  Bit of a dead end..LOL, but what's new with that?  I searched the BDM index for NSW until I went crosseyed,  then I decided to ask for help. :D
Cheers
Anne

Hello Anne,

The NSW marriage certificates from that time usually have information relating to where the bride and groom  were born, and their parents names plus more, so you may have to obtain the certificate to advance your research, that is if you haven't already.

Good luck,

margaret  :)

NSW Death certificates list the amount of time the person has lived in Australia, so this is always the best place to start.

I can't find the deaths for Frederick and Laura in NSW.  Maybe they moved interstate?
