*COMPLETED* Anyone going to Warwickshire Records Office??
« on: Sunday 08 January 06 05:47 GMT (UK) »
Hello all,
My ancestor Joseph DANKS was arrested in Warwickshire in 1819 and transported to New South Wales.  His certificate of Freedom, which he gained after his 14 year sentence was up, stated that he was arrested for stealing a horse.  Unfortunately the Warwick Assizes records for this date no longer exist, but on enquiry to the Warwickshire Records Office, regarding any newspaper articles mentioning his trial at the Warwick Assizes, I was advised that:

the Warwick Advertiser of 3 April 1819
contains a brief mention of the [Warwick Assizes] case: Joseph DANKS was found guilty of stealing
fowl (including a gander) from a John Mole at Kingsbury.

I am sure this is the same Joseph DANKS so it's interesting, although I have to say a bit disappointing  ;D , to note that he stole some fowl, and not  a horse!

The records office have said they can supply me a copy of the paper, but they don't accept credit cards, and although I could send a bank cheque, the cost of getting the cheque would be about 4 times what the cost of the copy is (GBP2.50) - I'm in Australia.

I was hoping that some kind soul might be venturing to Warwick Records Office at some point, and could view and print a copy of the film for me?  I'd be grateful for ever, if that's any incentive!

Thanks for any help
 :D
