Hi all, Newbie here  .

Can anybody help please?

 I am Looking for the family of Charles Courtnay ( other spellings may apply ) . He married Ann ??  Both born in wincanton ?? Probable dates of birth & death for Charles are 1828 to 10/07/1918.     Ann b.1827.

     Searched the parish & cemetry without luck.....found on Church of LDS 1881 census, then living in hollins, lancashire. see here :http://www.familysearch.org/Eng/Search/Census/household_record.asp?HOUSEHOLD_CODE=1881BR_3994355&HOUSEHOLD_SUB=1&frompage=99

sometime between 1863 & 1877 the family relocated to lancashire.

          The details I am trying to establish atm are the birth dates, wedding date, address in somerset. Both charles & anns parents and brothers/sisters....though any snippet of info would be very welcome

Hi Andy Since 1881 suggests born Wincan? I tried Somerset 1851 and in Wincanton we have only one Courtney or similar

The 1891 cenus gives a new starting point with the address. that is them!!! brilliant.

I wonder if I could  help me a bit further please....


Charles & Ann Coutnay ( although the exact surname spelling changes about a bit )also  had a son, william in approx 1851,  in henstridge or a dubious henstreet ( as I've seen written ) . he married julia ( haytor? ) who was born in approx 1859.....they also moved to lancs ........ here is the 1881 return http://www.familysearch.org/Eng/Search/census/household_record.asp?HOUSEHOLD_CODE=1881BR_3994349&HOUSEHOLD_SUB=1&frompage=5  --note-- his surname is now courteny.  There is no mention of Lillie Beatrice, their daughter born on 12/02/1878.......I can only assume this date is wrong  or the 3 other siblings....james william, fred and libby......

could you possibly find their details from the 1891  survey ... ......   .
