Place Name help please.

On the 1851 census a birth place of Thorncote Kent was given.

On the 1861 New Romney was given.

Is there any place called Thorncote, if so is it by New Romney?

Sorry I don't know the area. Any help would be great.

Just checked that again, and I think it may be in a different county though   :-\ (Bedfordshire!) .....couldnt find a Thorncote on the autoroute map near New Romney......
