Help with reading a town or Parish name please!

Hi Prue,

There is a lot about Leitrim on the net, and I have found the address of the church at Glenfarne, St Michaels, which may hold some records, too.  Pity I am not in Ireland, hehe!

I found a map showing the location of Glenfarne which is a small village bordering the County of Fermanagh...I can only assume that Farrabarr was a smaller part of this village, but important enough to my ancestors to name IT as their place of marriage rather than Glenfarne. 

Given that it is only a small place, I may be able to eventually find some living O'Briens there who share the same ancestors. And hopefully if there are historical references there from before the 1840's they will be linked to my family.  It is a very exciting find....now I just have to work out who to write to!!!

Hi,
by searching around I found that there is a townland called Barr of Farrow in the  parish of Cloonclare, barony of Drumahaire, Poor Law Union Manorhamilton.
I saw that there is a Clancy name above the writing- might be nothing to do with it but there are Clacnys in Barr of Farrow in Griffiths Valuation.

Farrabar is in Glenfarne but will appear on a map as Barra Farr. It would be near another townland called Camderry. It is a small townland. St Michael's church or St Mary's church in Glenfarne would be the local parish churches if you need to trace more details.

Wow...thanks for all the help everyone, and thank you mcmorrow for the extra info on the parishes.  I need to sit down and write to these places!
