1861 Census look up please Offley COMPLETE THANK YOU
« on: Wednesday 18 January 06 11:11 GMT (UK) »
I am looking for two brothers in Offley who were both born there.

William Olney born 1830, age 31
Charles Olney born 1839 age 22

They are unlikely to be living together and may be Farmers or Grocers.  I am particularly interested in where they were living or farming.

They may be with their father James who was born in 1802, but he may not still be alive.

Many thanks

David

Thank you Tanja.  I think I have now identified that they were probably running West End Farm which Charles alone is running in 1881.

Could you have a look for Mary Anne Lake in 1861 please.  She is the widowed mother in law of Elizabeth above and should be running Wellbury Farm Offley.

She was born 1794 in Offley and was in fact part of this complex Olney family whose farms I am trying to sort out.

Thank you very much.  This looks like Wellbury Farm even though it has lost a few acres.

I am beginning to see a pattern. The Olney women marry Lakes kill them off and bring their farms into the family.  Meanwhile the Olney men expand the grocery business,  until they are no longer grocers but "Grand Shop Keepers"

Thanks again
