LUCETTE / LUCETT help please
« on: Saturday 21 January 06 09:06 GMT (UK) »
Hello,
I have been trying to find this family in 1861 & 1851 with no luck so far,
Frederick Lucette born abt 1828 Chelsea Middlesex
Mary Ann born abt 1833.
Mary Emma born 1856 New Cross Deptford.
Sarah Elizabeth born 1859 Lambeth, Surrey
Alice Sophia born 1865 Lambeth, Surrey
Frederick James born abt 1869 Lambeth.

Frederick snr remarried a Margaret Tidey in 1875 after Mary Ann died in 1870. Also found as LACELLE.

I have found them in 1871, 1881, 1891 and 1901, but they don't seem to be on the 1851 & 1861 census. Any help with this family will be so helpfull please.

I will post this in Surry if they can't be found in Kent.

Snowflake

I forgot to mention that Frederick was a basketmaker, it may help.

Hi Snowflake

Do you have any further information from either of Frederick's marriages or from any of the childrens' birth certificates?

The only certificate I have is for Mary Emma Lucett, she was born at 2 Tompkin Place, New Cross, Deptford, 30 Nov 1856. Her Mother is Mary Ann Cook. I do not have a birthplace for Mary Ann just an estimated year of 1833.

Frederick is on the 1871 census as Lucelle with the other 3 children, he is a widower. He remarried in 1875 to Margaret.

I have also found another possible child Olivia on the free BMD born Mar Q 1861 Greenwich,  died Sep Q 1864 Camberwell. (would she have been on the 1861 census??)

I have tried everything I can think of to find them in 1861 as they must have been there as the children are born between 1856 & 1869. Maybe some of the census may be missing. Who Knows.
I will have to send for the death certificate for Mary Ann, maybe that will help.

Thanks, Snowflake.

Frederick's marriage to Mary Ann,  Dec Q 1851 at Newington

Thank you,
I had just about given up on finding my Lucettes, you can put them in the completed section.

Thanks again, Snowflake

Hello Casalguidi,
Thank you so much for the baptism, no I did not have it, I only had her as Nelly from the 1901 census, so now I have her real name.

I still can't find the family in 1861 but I think it looks like the area they should have been living at has been lost or destroyed. Thanks again for the 1841 & 1851 info.

Hi Snowflake

Yes, you could be right about the 1861 census which is a pity :(

I forgot to mention that you may be able to find the baptisms of her siblings in the parish registers online for Swanley etc..
