Devon Record Office Lookup Request
« on: Saturday 18 September 04 23:15 BST (UK) »
Hi

I recently took the plunge and purchased information from the Devon Family History Society on my surnames of interest. I got birth and marriage information hoping to be able to find information on the family of my great great grandfather. It worked! I found his birth listed then went through and found other children with parents of the same name and found siblings. I have traced a couple of these siblings.

I then found the marriage entry for these parents and a possible entry for a marriage a generation further back, both of these entries had a notation saying that there are extra notes in the original parish register entry.

My request is: if anyone is able to visit the Devon Record Office or City of Plymouth and West Devon Record Office could they please look at the entries for me and let me know of the extra information.

The marriages are:
1. John Kingwell and Dorothy Bunce June 20 1773 in the parish of Egg Buckland
2. John Kingwell and Charlotte Wynggett December 11 1803 in the parish of Exeter St John

Thanks

Jaki

Hi Jaki,
I think the Devon Records Office is closed at the moment, they are relocating to another location (obviously!)  If and when I pass my driving test (taking lessons at the mo) I will be going there and if I do I will take a look for you.  But don't hold your breath it all depends on passing my test (and no I haven't actually put in for it yet - just waiting to take the theory bit next month!) so fingers crossed maybe by the new year?!?!?!?

Hi Nicky

If you can do it that would be great. There is no hurry. I have waited this long to find information and its not going anywhere   :) ..... Have started to expand the tree outward until I am able to extend it back.

Good luck on the driving test.

Jaki

Hi Jaki,

I looked at the Egg Buckland one on microfiche in Barnstaple RO today and the witnesses on there were unreadable I' am afraid. There is no fathers stated as it was written on the older style form where fathers names are not recorded.Sorry
