1841 census HILL
« on: Saturday 21 January 06 21:50 GMT (UK) »
Hi,

Hopefully someone can help me.

I have found what I think is 'one of mine' on the 1841 census but there is not really enough info on the index to tell.
Does anyone have an image they can check and let me know if there are any details such as relationships or place of birth.
Also confirmation of Elizabeths occupation would be helpful.

The details I have from the index are:
Address: The Noke, Hundred
Folio ref:HO107/0439/4/~F7

James Hill, aged 45 - Agricultural Labourer
Samuel Hill, aged 32 - Agricultural Labourer
Elizabeth Hill, aged 29 - P L
Hannah Hill, aged 5

Many thanks

Becky

Generally you get very little info on the 1841 Census.

Hi Becky,

I have viewed the image for the Hill family and it reads   ...

St.Albans District.  St.Stephens Parish,  Windridge Ward.
Address.  The Noke. (No hundred)
Ref.  HO107/439/4  F.6. P.5.
James Hill  45 Ag Lab
Samuel Hill  33  Ag Lab
Elizabeth Hill  29  Pl  (Plaiter)
Hannah Hill  5.
All born in county.
James age was a bit iffy, so I found him on 1851, still at the Noke

James Hill  Unmarried 56  Ag Lab  B.St.Stephens
Samuel Hill  Unmarried  47  Ag Lab B.St.Stephens.
Elizabeth and Hannah had moved on.

Hope this helps.

Regards   ...  Peter

Thanks for this - I have Elizabeth and Hannah in later census'.  Eliz is shown as unmarried, but Ihad for a moment hoped that she was married and I had just found Hannahs father.  Except I found 2 of them.

I guess now I am back to unmarried mother, but  assume (if that is ever safe) I have found some  brothers of hers.

Thanks
Becky

Hi Becky,

Should have mentioned that James and Samuel are shown as brothers on the 1851.

Good luck with Elizabeth and Hannah.
