There was a John PENTLOE of Riseley impressed for military service in Ireland 1598.   I understand not many of those men came back as it was part of Earl Essex's ill-fated mission to subdue the Irish?

There are no HODGES of about the right time in the right area of Bedfordshire as far as local Musters are concerned but there may be something in the National Archives site.

Also, it might be worth enquiring if there are any Wills for these families in Bedford?  Or copies at Kew?

Thanks Cathy

Thanks for your info' re: my Thomas & Jane Hodge.

They was one or two Thomas Pentloe's  floating around this part of North Beds in the years leading up to this marriage (1679) but this Jane Hodge seems not to be from this area although I did find one on the LDS down at Stotfold, Christening: 29 APR 1658.
I perhaps need to see the PR/S of Melchborne to confirm both they places origin to be sure.

Thanks
