Do you mean you want to trace him after that date - if so - you need to post the FULL details from the 1851 - names,ages,birthplaces etc

or do you mean you want to trace his parentage?

Hi,

The Hemel Hempstead Parish Records include two Martindale christenings, both children of Joseph and Jane, Labourer, Two Waters.  Marianne 31 Mar 1839 and Sarah 01 Mar 1840.

The Abbots Langley PRs record the christening of Jane Carrington, d/o Thomas and Esther, Labourer, Bedmont on 08 Sep 1813 and also the marriage of Joseph Martindale and Jane Carrington on 13th October 1834, witnesses to the marriage being Thomas Dayton and Anne Martindale.  All four persons made their mark.

The IGI is the International Genealogical Index compiled by the Latter Day Saints from various sources including parish records.
