Shame about your computer Ken, hope you get it fixed.
Well i'm hooked on looking for Slawson's! and although i could not find any record of Peggy's birth i did come across a John R, Nora and Mary Slawson born between 1920 and 1924. This have to be her brothers and sisters, do they ring a bell?
Well anyhow i'm sure when your computers fixed you can comfirm this.
On to the Loughlin's - Its great to hear you say you belive a Thomas Loughlin went to the USA as its been mentioned many many a time by my dad that some of the family (ie Patrick) came over here and some went to the USA, but thats all he knows.
Were do i fit into the Loughlin family? - i guess that would help lol
I'll go backward
i was born JONATHAN MICHAEL JAMES LOUGHLIN in June 1986 in Rochdale
As you can tell by the surname its my dads side of the family and he was born - MICHAEL ANTONY LOUGHLIN in April 1951 in Bury (Heywood)
His parents were - FRANK LOUGHLIN and ELIZABETH HELEN JACKSON
FRANK was born in Nov 1908 in Heywood to PATRICK LOUGHLIN and JULIA CONNOLLY
JULIA sadly died in May of 1909 and FRANK i'm told was brought up by his elder sister and father - This must be MARY LOUGHLIN (Later SLAWSON) as she would be about 15 at the time.
So the link that links us is that FRANK LOUGHLIN (my grandfather) is the youngest brother of MARY LOUGHLIN (Later SLAWSON) who is Peggy's mother.
PATRICK married JULIA in 1892 in Bury and it took me a hell of a long time to find well it was someone on the internet who did and i'm forever greatful to them as on their marriage certifcate LOUGHLIN is spelt as LAUGHLION !!!!!!
I'm a fool for never getting my hands on the marriage certifcate as it only £7 but i want to get it online and the GRO doesn't take my only card (a VISA election)
FRANK and MARY that i so far know of had brothers JOHN (b1897) JAMES (b1899) and NORA (b1902) and probably alot more! as it has been said that my granddad had a LOT of brothers and sisters.
JOHN was killed in action on July (24th) 1918 in France serving with the 51st Battilon Machine Gun Corps (INF) - legend has it that his legs were blown off my a gernade. We have several pics of him in his dashing uniform and details of were is war grave is (i must go and see it) Check out the War Graves Commission website.
JAMES is proving tough to track down and NORA all i have to go on is well the record on the BMD and a picture of a young lady and the words NORA LOUGHLIN on the back.
A little on the CONNOLLY's Julia was born in 1865 in Heywood and a few of her older siblings and both parents were born in Ireland in Kilmain and thats as far back as i have them.
The earlist i have PATRICK in England is lodging somewhere on the 1891 census - the actul page its on is somewhere buried, i'll see if i can dig it out.
i think i've gone on long enough but i'll add one final thing.
Although is wife sadly died Patrick lived a long life and died in 1965 at the age of 104. One of the greatest things i have is a picture thats in a book on Heywood you can buy in the shops that has Patrick (Pat) celebrating his 100th birthday in 1961 with Sir Matt Busby manager of Manchester United and trainer Jack Crompton. My dad says being a young 10 year old mad Manchester United fan it was about as bad as it could get when he came home from school to find he'd missed Sir Matt Busby at his Granddads house!
I really would to know more about the LOUGHLIN's and the SLAWSON's
if you want to ask any questions, feel free to ask anything at all.
Hope this helps you and Peggy
Jonathan
