Some information available here - keep checking back as new items will be frequently added.

Shortly, the distribution maps for the Powner name - 1881 & 1998 will be added - these show that the name almost certainly originated in Staffordshire. 

Further research suggests  Eccleshall (1600s), moving gradually towards Newcastle/Stoke.
