Cleaning disk
« on: Monday 30 January 06 22:14 GMT (UK) »
Nothing to do with genealogy, but someone might know the answer.  I run world community grid and the only downside is that it stores its computations as temporary files.  This means that when I run any sort of disk cleaner it's a tedious job of manually deleting each junk file so as to avoid deleting the computations.  Does anyone know of a solution (without getting rid of worls community grid, which is very worth while)?

Can you not go into the settings of the program and get it to sent computations to an alternate place eg save into documents rather tan temporary file do not know world community grid software or if you can alter settings so may not be of help

No, you can't alter the settings.  WCG is a computational chemistry programme which runs on your computer in the background doing analysis of proteins etc., sends the comps back to the server automatically and downloads more.

I'm not 100% sure if I'm on the right track but if you use internet explorer here goes.

While I' explorer is open go to tools then internet options, click on delete files - you should then get a dialogue that asks if you want to delete all temporary internet files, click the option to delete all offline content then yes.

                                Hope this helps

Thanks, I'll try it.  I noticed last night that the computations are actually programme files but they always come up for deletion in any disk cleaning run.
