« on: Friday 03 February 06 07:20 GMT (UK) »
Hello Chris, I was given the Bapt for a daughter born in Bexhill with the name Michal in 1822, now  on searching later census I am sure I find her as Rachal, are the images of Bexhill  Bapt available.I know her parents were Thomas and Elizabeth Cleverly, the Cleverly being hard to read.

Hi there Dylan

Yes, the images of the baptism would be available in the parish register - but that would mean a trip to the local record office at Lewes; or possibly the fiche copy at Bexhill Library may be available.

I had a look in both the 1841 and 1851 for your Cleverleys in Bexhill, but could not locate them at all - is that where they were during that time period?

Hi
I was at the East Sussex Record Office (ESRO) today and took a note of your query with me as I was intending to look at the Bexhill parish register for something else, but unfortunately ran out of time.
However I wondered if you knew the entry number and the father's given occupation?
The typed transcript book gives baptism number 710, Michal daughter of Thomas and Elisth (Chimney Sweep) Bexhill.
I shall be going there again, but probably not until after Easter now, could look for you if you have not been there in the meantime. You wont find parish registers on film in Bexhill library.
Regards
Culli

Hello Culli
Many thanks for your help,Thomas Cleverly was a Chimney sweep but I do not have the number for his marriage  , the family has turned out to be more of a headache than I thought . I have since found the family to be using two names in 1841 and onwards, after hunting him for years he finaly turned up in Hollington as Thomas Harris, Chimney Sweep,I am sure of this thanks to a ladywho connects to a son of his, and a lady whose rellie was a half sister to them, I contacted ESRO and got a record that gives my G Grandmother as Miram  Cleverly alias Harris in 1854, There do's seem to be connections to the Ninfield area.
Once again Many thanks
Regards Dylan
